Venus Jewel
in the Community
Venus Jewel's commitment to corporate social responsibility started with caring for individual employees and the communities around them, but now extends well beyond, to our home villages, our industry and the country as a whole. Today, our commitment to social responsibility is part of our business model and we make a real difference by empowering people and communities, improving opportunities and raising standards of living. We back these commitments through direct action by our company, as well as two public charitable trusts. Rather than setting aside a fixed budget for the CSR activities, Venus Jewel opts to whole-heartedly support various humanitarian activities where it can be of help. Sometimes it's as broad as helping to fund relief efforts after a monsoon, and sometimes it's as direct as buying an ambulance for a hospital or helping an employee buy a house for his family.

some facts
about venus
In times of natural calamities or communal tensions, Venus Jewel has generously stood by people in need. When an epidemic swept through Surat in 1994 and a mass exodus saw nearly half the city's population flee, our co-founder, Sevantilal Shah, chose to stay and assist however he could. Despite facing immense pressure to leave, his calm public statements played a key role in stemming the general panic, and helped inspire employees to stay. As the tide turned, he gave the first interview BBC radio broadcast from the recovering city, a message of resilience that was shared across the globe. Quite simply, we believe that what we give out to the world is given back to us many times over.
